The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Share Anger Regarding Size Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has updated its size classifications for female and kids' apparel without notifying every member regarding the update.
Digital Channels Reaction
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
They have suggested members to examine their items and manually change the size if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Modifications
Earlier, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Member Accounts
One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Platform Context
The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
